For example “would you like it in red or green?” I use it effectively at the point where I have taken a client to the initial traumatising incident. About 3 out of 4 clients found out what the incident was and we could deal with it as the adult they now are. However, with 1 in 4 the unconscious would not reveal what the incident was (possibly to avoid them knowing or retraumatising them). So I would use the double bind. “I would like you to show them what the issue is, and if you think that isn’t appropriate then you can delete it without showing them what it is.” It worked like a dream!
